5 Foot wears you must protect this season

Did you know before manufacturing mobile phones, Nokia was known for its rubber boots?
 Ooooooh yeeeeeeeeah!

I thought it will be nice I, share with you my ordeal at the CBD ( Central Business District) yesterday while on official assignment with a colleague of mine.Though our assignment is in no way connected to this write-up, it is however my inspiration for writing. As I worked through the CBD with my colleague yesterday I needed not to be told that the raining season is here and I can say that again and again! The raining season is here! It’s raining, it’s pouring, and old man is snoring It is that time of the year when air quality improves, freshwater quality improves, and vegetation grows to a large extent, leading to crop yields late in the season. Its also that time of the year you cannot predict if it’s going to rain or not. You cannot afford to dress down, wash your cloth without proper calculation and pegging, leave your house without umbrella, plan a trip without listening to the weather forecast, for the ladies, shower caps and the extra foot wear is a MUST (just wondering if you don’t go out with “the extra” every time of the year-earrings, shoes, combs, hair clip... ever prepared). Choosing the right footwear for this season is just as important as the cloth for the season. You just cannot afford to be unprepared like I was in my all corporate outfit walking through CBD. (It is within this area the popular Idumota and Balogun market are located)

In Nigeria, there are two rainy seasons, the first lasting from March to the end of July and the second commencing in early-September and ending around mid-October.No thanks to melting of the ozone layer which has, been pointed to as, possible reason behind climate change and resultant increased rainfall. A couple of foot wears are not just appropriate for this season. Trudging through the water, could be every irritating. When it rains, all the dirt on the ground turns into mud and one would always run the risk of ruining good foot wears and further developing foot odour as well.

 WHAT TO AVOID THIS SEASON
1. Leather shoes WHY?To avoid cracks, foot odour some even change colour or turn green. Direct skin contact with wet leather footwear can cause bacterial growth.
 2. Flip flop WHY? They will smudge whatever you are wearing.
 3. Suede shoes WHY? If you still want to wear them after the season is over, they will not withstand moisture and its colour will fade if kept under damp conditions.
Some other type of black shoes WHY? They will also develop black stains on the feet or socks when they get wet. Better still they should be stored up till the “sunshine returns full time”

When choosing foot wears for the raining season, the following is a most
1. They must come with straps to avoid flaps which could result in cause long stripes of dirt on the back of the clothes.
 2. A sturdy pair of rubber boots or sports sandals would help.
3. Wax polish is always good on shoes, as they repel water, and prevent shoe damage.
 4. Wet footwear should not be kept inside the closet, as the moisture in the footwear will soften the glue or rugby in the same.

So enjoy the down pour this season and stay trendy.
